Who doesn't like chocolate?

I was watching a movie yesterday and one of the characters said in it, "If someone doesn't like sweets, they probably are not a good person". While it may not be entirely true, I haven't met anybody yet that wouldn't enjoy some kind of confection!

Of course, when one thinks "sweets" or "candy", the next word to come to mind is likely "chocolate". There are some chocolate manufacturers on the market boasting long history and rich traditions, one of them being See's Candies headquartered in South San Francisco, CA, and sold in over 200 brick-and-mortar stores throughout the West.

The history of this 90-year-old company is quite fascinating: having arrived from Canada in 1921, Charles See and his wife Florence opened their first shop decorated in black and white to resemble his mother's kitchen, whose recipes they also used for their chocolate creations. The number of shops steadily grew, and the company managed to survive the depression years without compromising the quality of their products. After WWII the firm kept expanding and in the 50's took advantage of a new phenomenon - namely shopping malls, establishing stores still following the original black-and-white decor. And thus the company has continued until today, always following Charles' motto, "Quality Without Compromise".

Nowadays, of course, one does not need to travel to the West to purchase See's Candies - the company's well-organized and intuitive website provides numerous options: shopping by occasion, by category or by price. The pages are full of beautiful photos presenting wonderful, mouth-watering treats, and the only problem is which kind to choose!

One of my climbing friends said that he doesn't like sweets. He eats only one Snickers just before his training session, and it's not for the good taste, but for the energy provided by chocolate and peanut. I said that I won't climb with him anymore, because you can't trust somebody who tortures himself with candy :)
