Jeszcze nieśmiało, ale się cieszę... Babiszon z Chicago Title oddzwonił i bardzo grzecznie zapodał, że wyśle odnośną dokumentację FedExem i będę ją miała w szkieukowych łapkach w piatek! I tak mam niemiłe odczucia względem tego, że musiałam zadzwonić do menadżera i zakablować, ale trudno. Kobieta sama jest sobie winna.
Może wreszcie się przejaśnia. Pisklaka przyjęli do szkoły (college, niemożebyć), pisał wczoraj testy dla ustalenia ile umie, angielski zaliczył koncertowo, matematykę pół na pół, bo już pozapominał. No i słówka się pewnie trochę do tego dołożyły. Planuję więc w mojej macoszej główce, że jak już zdobędzie podręcznik(i), to trzeba będzie przejrzeć początek i zrobić ściągę ze słówek. Sama się chętnie naumiem kilku nowych.
Obawialiśmy się trochę, że trzeba będzie wyskoczyć z góry pieniędzy za tę szkołę, ale okazuje się, że póki co chcą tylko opłatę za pół roku, nie za cały. Uff. Dostał następny kawałek plastiku ze swoją paszczą i jest Jaśnie Student. Następny krok – zdobycie książek, najlepiej używanych.
Wczoraj zebrałam się w sobie i zrobiłam grubsze porządki, powyrzucałam conieco papierów, naciupałam sobie baz do ateciaków, zrobiłam pudełko z papierami do wysyłania z ateciakami... A dzisiaj zaczynam trzeci rok uczenia polskiego. Zobaczymy, ile raki pamiętają po wakacjach.
Quietly rejoicing – the woman from Chicago Title called back and very politely explained that she is FedExing all the documentation and I will have it in my hands Friday. Yippeee! I still have the nasty feelin that I had to become a snitch and call her manager, but oh well. It’s her own fault. I wouldn’t, if she had EVER called back.
Maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel… The Younger Unit is signed up for college, he took the placement tests yesterday. He passed English with flying colors, and got 50% in math. He forgot a lot of stuff from high school, and also the vocabulary may have been a little of a problem. So I’m planning in my step-mother head that as soon as he obtains the coursebook, we will have a look and perhaps create a voc cheatsheet. I’ll be glad to learn a few new words myself.
We were worried that we would have to pay a whole mountain of money for the whole year, but it turned out that for now he only needs to pay for one semester. They gave him another piece of plastic with his face on it, so he is His Student Highness now. Next step – getting the books, preferably used ones.
Yesterday I pulled myself together and cleaned a lot, threw away a pile of paper, cut bases for ATCs, created a box with goodies to send out with ATCs… And today I’m starting the third year of teaching Polish. We’ll see how much them kids remember after the vacation.
